Design tokens are what keep design and code agreeing

Design tokens define values once, in a form both designers and developers reference, which removes the translation step where inconsistency enters.

Without tokens, a color exists as a hex value in a design file and a slightly different hex value in the code. Multiply that across colors, spacing and type and the built product stops matching the design.
